The Director of Operations (Solar) is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight to the engineering, planning, start-up, and construction phases of a self-performing construction project.
This position requires demonstrated competencies in safe working conditions, quality project management, leadership development, construction methods, project management fundamentals, planning, budgeting, contract negotiations, procurement, engineering, managing sub-contractors/suppliers, and change management.

The successful candidate must also have the capability to build relationships and serve customers through excellent collaboration and communication.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
1. Safety: The Director will establish a culture and attitude of safety within the company and projects that does not compromise the health and welfare of employees. They will identify and encourage positive behaviors on each project and endorse and support "No life-altering events."
2. Leadership: The Director will develop professional and respectful leaders and managers who will deploy the project management system that establishes a leadership position in the market and facilitates excellence in everything the company does.
3. High-Performance Teams: The Director will hire and facilitate the development of individuals who possess the required leadership and competency to produce a high-performing outcome for the company. All teams will be established and staffed in a manner that will produce an "A-team" result. The teams will encourage and produce a positive and engaging work environment where all members can achieve their professional goals. The company will endorse and ensure all team members understand how each contributes to the success of each other, the project, and the company.
4. Quality Product: The Director will establish and lead a culture and program that produces a high-quality and performing power plant. The company will adhere to quality standards, engineering standards, and quality methods that produce the product that was promised.
5. Customer Service: The Director will establish a cohesive, connected, and collaborative relationship with the clientele. They will serve the client in a manner that promotes a trusting relationship where the company anticipates their needs and follows through with commitments on time and budget. The company will look for and promote transparency around improving the client's bottom line.
6. On-Time Execution: The Director will establish the project management program to ensure that schedules are used as a tool to proactively manage the on-time execution of the projects.
7. Operational Excellence: The Director will execute the business strategy in a more consistent, predictable, and reliable manner than the competition. Operational excellence creates value-add. The Director will establish a program that will produce lower operational risk, lower operating costs, and increased revenues relative to competitors, thus creating value for customers and shareholders. The individual will produce a system that achieves results in accordance with the business strategy and plan.
8. Continuous Improvement: The Director will lead in a manner that promotes continuous improvement, Lean Thinking, Six Sigma, and learning from lessons; thus incorporating all that back into the procurement system and customer service program.
9. Fiscal Responsibility: The Director will establish and lead the project management program to produce a predictable fiscal outcome for the company. This will be accomplished by employing fundamental budgeting, planning, monitoring, and forecasting processes that ensure the leadership and company understand the financial status of each project. The project management program will ensure the health of the company by establishing positive cash flow and collecting receivables on time.
10. Talent Development: The Director will intentionally lead and develop others to lead the development of the company's greatest asset: its people. They will ensure this development through a regular and consistent coaching and feedback system that provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.

Education & Experience Requirements:
The successful candidate must have 12+ years of construction experience and a proven construction background.
Additionally, they must have 8+ years of solar construction project experience.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited university is required.
The candidate must have demonstrated experience in Construction Management and leadership of people. Preferred Skills/Abilities: The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
They must have a valid current driver's license and be eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage. Additionally, they must have a valid current passport for travel (including air travel) outside the U.S. Extensive travel is required.
