Position Overview:

The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance and repair operations for heavy equipment, CDL vehicles, and smaller fleet vehicles. This role ensures that all mechanical work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company and industry standards. The Shop Manager will supervise and lead a team of skilled mechanics, coordinate workflow, and maintain a high level of equipment readiness to support the operational needs of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

· Supervise, train, and mentor a team of mechanics.

· Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of work.

· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

· Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

· Approve time and leave for payroll purposes

· Completing employee reviews and related paperwork.

Maintenance & Repair Operations:

· Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment, CDL vehicles, and smaller field vehicles.

· Ensure all mechanical work meets safety and quality standards.

· Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, providing technical guidance to mechanics.

Workflow & Scheduling:

· Coordinate and prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts inventory, and service logs.

· Schedule routine and emergency repairs in collaboration with the operations team.

Inventory & Supplies Management:

· Manage parts and supplies inventory to ensure the availability of necessary components.

· Establish relationships with vendors and suppliers to procure high-quality parts at competitive prices.

· Monitor and control maintenance costs, ensuring budget adherence and preparing reports.

Compliance & Safety:

· Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.

· Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for the maintenance team.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be authorized to work in United States
  • Must a have a minimum High school diploma or equivalent; Higher educational training, technical or vocational training in mechanics preferred.
  • Required minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Must have a clean background, credit and driving history in compliance with company policies.
  • Required to have a strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Required proficiency in using maintenance management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of mechanics.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid CDL or ability to obtain one is preferred.
  • Would be subject to pre-employment and post employment drug testing in compliance with company policy. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and tools.

Work Environment:

Shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and mechanical hazards. Also, occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits:
