Job DescriptionJob Description

Overview: The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee all warehouse operations, including shipping, put-away, cycle counting, picking, packing, and returns. This role involves managing warehouse personnel, optimizing processes, and ensuring key performance metrics such as productivity, quality, and on-time shipments are met. As a working supervisor, this individual will also provide hands-on support on the warehouse floor when needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign warehouse personnel to appropriate tasks to meet daily deadlines and operational goals.
  • Direct production, shipping, cost management, quality control, and safety procedures to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Review schedules, determine workforce requirements, and monitor productivity to meet customer demands.
  • Make workflow decisions throughout the day to meet operational objectives.
  • Continuously monitor operations, procedures, and employee performance to ensure quality, service, and productivity standards are upheld.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies regarding quality, security, safety, health, environmental regulations, attendance, and other guidelines.
  • Assist with the training of new employees in safety protocols, job assignments, and responsibilities.
  • Handle entry of incident reports and support operational systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a distribution environment, with preference for experience in steel distribution.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed company objectives.
  • Effective supervisory, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to lead, innovate, and develop team members.
  • Strong motivational and decision-making abilities.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly sit, use hands, talk, and hear.
  • Occasional requirements to stand, walk, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical hazards.
  • Noise levels are typically moderate but may occasionally be high due to the open office or warehouse environment.
