Reporting to the Lead Graphic Designer, the Graphic Designer will provide strong creative thinking, and solid design skills, will maintain Derrick Corporation brand standards, and ensure the delivery of required creative assets for our marketing team at our corporate headquarters in Buffalo, NY.

You will work with global members of the Derrick Corporation marketing team as well as our product teams and sales teams to achieve desired business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute creative on year-long strategies, short-term campaigns, and ad hoc marketing elements to drive engagement and achieve established success metrics.
  • Design and execute marketing and promotional pieces, including webpages, direct response landing pages, digital ads, social graphics, infographics, brochures, event graphics, white papers, case studies, videos, collateral materials, field reports, and any internal or external presentations.
  • Communicate visual designs, motion designs, and storyboards to the team.
  • Meaningfully contribute to brainstorms to build creative ideas.
  • Provide status updates regularly on projects.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of creative platforms and an appetite to learn new platforms, technologies, and other trending topics that are related to the creative space.
  • Collaborate with team members from creative, social, communications, strategy/planning, product, and analytics to produce smart and powerful work.
  • Responsible for managing own workload and timelines>
  • Stay abreast of creative trends — be a sponge; absorb ideas from the internet, TV, social, and every other aspect of daily life.
  • Strong ability to focus and prioritize workload and resources across a dynamic mix of projects and timelines.

Skills & Expertise:

  • BS/BA Degree (Multimedia, Advertising, Marketing, or Fine Arts concentration preferred).
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in creative, digital design, and content creation in creative agencies, client-side, or in an in-house agency setting.
  • Proficient in current Adobe Creative Suite software, (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator — animation experience a plus but not required).
  • Strong working knowledge of digital marketing and the creative process as a whole, with varied experience that ranges from any of the following competencies: graphic design, interactive design, event/experiential, video/broadcast.
  • Good presentation skills and good communication abilities that can be used to sell ideas.
  • Experienced with strategic brainstorming and campaign development.
  • Solid understanding of digital and printing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey technical information in simple yet powerful design(s).
  • Great design, typography, and layout skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with good time management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible within the creative process. Ability to take direction yet still maintain intuition and brand aesthetic.
  • Takes initiative — doesn’t wait to be told what or how to do something.


The base pay range for this position is $23.00 - $29.00 per hour

The base pay range represents the low and high end of the Derrick range for this position in the given work location. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors including internal equity, location, education, certifications, and experience. The range(s) listed is just one component of Derrick's total employee compensation package. Other rewards may include profit sharing, paid time off, a 401K plan, and many region-specific benefits.
