POSITION TITLE: MULTI-FAMILY CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR

Samuelson Development LLC is a South Dakota based, family-owned company that specializes in development, construction, property management, and owning class A multi-family projects. Samuelson Development LLC is looking for a team player that desires to grow and advance their career. This position requires a person that has very diverse skills, will be flexible and a desire to advance in their carrier. This position will have many different expectations depending on any given stage of our construction process. The person holding this position will be responsible overseeing all construction activities that take place on the jobsite. Administration and computer/typing skills are required. This position entails but is not limited to, scheduling, reviewing contracts, site management, safety, and quality control. This position reports to the Project Manager and President.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIIES

  • Maintain accurate of materials and cost used.
  • Conduct pre-construction planning meetings with contractor to go over scope of work & safety.
  • Facilitate scheduling discussions.
  • Lead weekly site meetings.
  • Keep real-time detailed BIM (Building Information Management).
  • Submit weekly reports to Project Manager.
  • Assist in accurate assignment of purchase orders and track change orders.
  • Review and oversee the contracts and documents.
  • Field calls/emails from sub-contractors about projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to self-manage responsibilities.
  • Follow company safety program.
  • Periodic travel within a 400-mile area.
  • Maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 5+ years of construction management and/or project estimating experience.
  • Preferred: degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management. (Or similar field of study)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Superior and effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and self-direct.
  • Ability to understand construction operations.
  • Strong written and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage occasional heavy workloads.
  • Strong team player that takes responsibility for their work.
  • A willingness to get the job done even if it occasionally requires non-traditional working hours.

John and Emily Samuelson started J.A. Samuelson Company in 1974 specializing in custom home building. In 1999, after twenty-five years as a general contractor, John and Emily expanded their business by forming Samuelson Development LLC, which specializes in the design, development, construction, and management of Class A apartment complexes. John wanted to bring his high-end home building experience to the multi-family market by focusing on design and luxury.

Since entering the apartment industry, we have built six multi-housing projects totaling 1,485 units. Currently in Sioux Falls and Rapid City markets. We have seen a 105% growth in the last 7 years. Samuelson Development is a rapidly growing company with a lot of opportunities.
