Accountant (Real Estate)
Our client is a fully integrated Long Island Property Management company, looking to add a Property Accountant to our rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of journal entries and bank reconciliations, possessing strong time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process monthly rent bills and other miscellaneous charges.
- Monitor resident accounts for past due amount and accurate charges.
- Process invoices through AvidXchange (or similar system) and correctly code and route them to the correct approval workflow.
- Responsible for entering invoices into the AvidXchange (or similar system) system for approval or acquiring written approval before the timely processing of payments to vendors.
- Manage weekly cash flow to determine which payables are to be paid.
- Ensure that all payments made online, via ACH, or writing checks are accurately reflected in our accounting books.
- Booking and processing bank reconciliation adjustments and correcting bookkeeping discrepancies as requested.
- Record monthly adjusting journal entries.
- Monitor cash balances.
- Preparing and compiling paid bills reports monthly on/about the 15th of each month and uploading to the shared file storage website for Board and building Accountant’s review.
- Ensure that all the supporting documentation for entries processed have been scanned.
- Assist in the annual audit preparation.
- Assist in annual budget preparation.
- Processing, tracking, and management monthly and quarterly payments of all utility accounts for a large portfolio of residential properties on a monthly and quarterly basis, utilities include NYC Water Board, Verizon, oil companies, energy companies, and others.
- Responsible for vendor maintenance, vendor inquires, and new vendor set up including Form W9 and COI.
- Research, identify, and analyze discrepancies and troubleshoot to resolve.
- Must provide excellent client service to vendors, managers, other departments, and staff members.
- Complete special projects as requested by Controller or CFO.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be organized with the ability to create and track accounts and payment due information; paying strict attention to detail, deadlines, and ability to handle large amounts of transactions.
- Must have 2-5 years’ experience in real estate accounting.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
- Experience with AppFolio and AvidXchange a plus. (or similar systems)
