Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Research and document technical memos, present results to senior management (Accounting Pronouncements - SSAPs, EITFs, FASBs)

· Analyze complex accounting transactions

· Prepare consolidating entries

· Prepare/Review corporate tax returns

· Assist in financial close process

· Review workpapers and projects for accuracy and overall reasonableness

· Prepare forecasted financial statements

· Assist with external audits and updating internal control procedures

· Be a key player in developing finance/accounting strategies with executive management

· Continually look for innovative ways to improve department workflows and eliminate inefficiencies

· Lead projects to meet corporate goals and strategic initiatives

· Team lead opportunities with department/organizational projects

· Analyze software needs for department

· Document system requirements for software upgrades, replacement and enhancements

· Assist with implementation of new software

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university
  • Minimum 5-years overall accounting experience; CPA strongly preferred
  • Audit experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley and internal control framework
  • Superior Excel skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively through written reports, memos and procedures
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to work independently as well as lead special projects
  • Experience with gathering software and/or system requirements for new product initiatives
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the Company and department’s changing needs

  • Interact courteously and professionally with all OMSNIC employees (including staff, managers and executives), board and committee members, agents, policyholders and vendors
