Safety is of the utmost priority and importance here at The Porter Co. We are currently searching for a Safety Manager who can join our reputable team and uphold the high standards of safety we've set throughout the organization. The Safety Manager must be intuitive and able to take on difficult situations with a positive outcome. This individual will need to be very effective in the facilitation of information. You will need to be able to handle a variety of assignments at one time with an equal sense of urgency. This position requires someone who is detail oriented, self-sufficient and able to follow through.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform continued active health and safety audits and inspections to on-going projects and job sites to identify, develop, implement, and promote OSHA, Porter Co., State, and Federal programs for comprehensive employee protection.

Must be able to evaluate working conditions and operational practices; routinely inspects work methods, environment, and equipment to identify and correct health and safety hazards as well as other violations.

Ensure conformance with established occupational health and safety issues, rules, and requirements.

Recommend and assist with all health and safety issues and investigate possible health and safety regulations, personal injuries, and property damages. Compile and analyze data to identify the severity of accidents and hazards, then recommend corrective and remedial action.

Solid and sound decision making skills.

Responds to emergencies with urgency and takes appropriate action as defined through our emergency planning.

Must be able to adapt and change priorities quickly to help support project managers, superintendents, and field personnel.

Must possess excellent communication skills

Job requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience with sole responsibility as a professional full-time safety manager and must have a recent completion of OSHA 30-hour training

Must have at least one of the following credentials: 

 - A degree in safety and health, construction management, or equivalent from a recognized university.  

 - A professional designation as Certified Safety Professional (CSP); a designation as Safety, Health, Environmental, Professional (SHEP); a designation as Associate Safety Professional (ASP); a designation as Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO); a designation as Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST); a designation as Safety Health Specialist (SSH) or a certification/standing in safety and health from a recognized certifying agency or university.

 - Or substantially equivalent credentials acceptable to the SEAC Safety Manager, which indicate that the candidate has the necessary training experience and knowledge of worker and work site safety requirements, procedures and protocols or a combination of those factors to reasonably justify approval of the candidate as a Subcontractor Safety Manager.  

Experience in the mechanical contractor industry a plus

Must have a valid drivers license and vehicle to travel to various job sites

Pay is commensurate with experience
