Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA/CCMA)

We are a busy ob/gyn practice serving a multi-generational patient population within our community. We offer a wide variety of visit types, health interventions, surgical procedures and patient education opportunities. This is an opportunity to work closely with an experienced physician, nurse practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals. We pride ourselves on highly customized patient care and attentive service, staff is expected to maintain a cordial, warm and professional relationship with patients and providers at all times. Staff should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a professional demeanor and a team player attitude. Familiarity with electronic medical records (Athena) is a necessity as the EMR is integral to our daily operations. Our staff is a team first and foremost and expectations include a willingness to jump in where needed. All staff is expected to cross-train and be able to assist as needed..

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Greeting patients over the phone

  • Triage patients and obtain vital signs

  • Reviewing detailed medical histories and medication reconciliation

  • Assisting Providers with In-Office procedures

  • Documenting Provider visit notes in EMR

  • Maintaining Proper Supply levels

  • Assisting patients with any follow up questions

  • Checking assigned provider PAQ daily and following up on patient results as appropriate

  • Fulfilling patient medication requests

  • Performing in-office services including urine dips, pregnancy tests, immunizations and blood drawing when needed.

  • Prepare, label and process specimens

  • Clean and maintain examination rooms

  • Sterilize and organize instruments

  • Following up on Prior Authorization requests for medications/procedures as needed

  • Offering appropriate patient education and support in accordance with provider orders

  • Participation in Corporate Compliance Policies as dictated by LMA Employee Handbook

Qualifications

  • Medical experience/terminology ob/gyn experience preferred

  • Positive, patient, professional attitude

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Knowledge of NextGen/ Athena EMR

  • Candidate must be able to take initiative

  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records/ HIPAA law

  • Must be able to work occasional weekends if needed

  • Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program

  • Current CMA/RMA/CCMA certification

  • Ability to prioritize tasks

  • Ability to manage your provider and workflow in a timely, efficient manner

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff members and providers

Job Type: Part-Time with potential to grow to Full-time

Schedule:

  • Day shift with a rotating late night

  • Monday to Friday

  • Weekends as needed
