This local Nashville residential (high-end) custom home builder is growing-- and they are interviewing for a preconstruction estimator who is well-rounded in all aspects of GC estimating & familiar with quantitative material On-Screen-Take-offs.

They have 17 years of experience delivering incredible custom homes to elite customers and establishing some of the most notable modern homes in the area valued at $2Million and up

Summary of Benefits:

  • Position: Quantitative Estimator, Full-time
  • Hours:  85%+/- Remote Work, Winter Holiday Shutdown 12/24 – 01/01
  • Base Salary: Up to 90k DOE
  • Benefits: 10 days PTO + , Employer Sponsored Health Insurance (Employer Pays 80% Employee/50%Dependents)
  • Additional Compensation: Vehicle + Technology Reimbursement

 

The general duties of the estimator position:

  1. Preconstruction Estimating & Quantitative Take-Offs on materials and services for residential construction projects 
  2. Interpretation and quantification of plans and specifications to establish an accurate estimate of costs for construction of new homes and renovations
  3. Coordinating, maintaining, and distributing construction documents including plans and specifications to internal and external team members
  4. Determining trade requirements, ensuring trade coverage for all scopes of work through RFQ process
  5. Vetting subcontractor/supplier quotes for compliance with construction documents/scope, and QTO of trades as required to establish estimate for unit price agreements
  6. Maintain master database of unit pricing, maintain record of unit prices and price increase notices
  7. Maintain digital files including plan versions and trade partner quotes in BuilderTrend and company cloud drive.
  8. Update project portal in BuilderTrend with initial budget selections for select trades
  9. Negotiate pricing with vendors as necessary to achieve greatest value from trade partners
  10. Vendor outreach, qualification and orientation
  11. Must be skilled in identifying and resolving trade/scope gaps
  12. Drive project start-up to resolve issues and expedite permitting

Construction Estimating Assistance: 

  1. Interpretation and quantification of plans, specifications and conceptual information to establish an accurate estimate of costs for proposed change orders
  2. Project buyout for long lead time materials: lumber, windows, exterior doors, garage doors, specialty vents, corbels/specialty exterior trim
  3. Issue notice to proceed communication to trades based on final approvals in BuilderTrend and/or schedule requirements
  4. This position may be tasked with researching budget variances and assisting with cost to complete estimating

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of construction estimating experience in either residential or commercial settings, new construction and renovations.
  • Must be open to 85%+/- Remote Work (after 2 week onsite orientation/training).
  • Must be local to middle Tennessee and able to commute to Brentwood/Franklin regularly for meetings & jobsite visits.
  • Must be able to quantify gravel, concrete, masonry, drywall, paint, trim, etc.
  • Must be able to vet subcontractor bids and identify gaps in scope/trade coverage.
  • Conceptual estimating or design-build experience.
  • Onscreen takeoff software & Excel experience required (Bluebeam experience preferred)
  • BuilderTrend experience useful
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a small team
