We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Quality Manager to lead the quality assurance efforts within our food manufacturing plant. This role is crucial in ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:

    • Demonstrate unwavering integrity, respect, teamwork, and equity in all interactions with employees, customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
    • Lead and coach the site quality team, ensuring clear understanding of individual goals and the development of robust plans.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the team.
    • Directly manage the QA department, including one Document Control Specialist, one Process Quality Technician, and one Lead Process Quality Specialist. Responsibilities include hiring, training, coaching, developing, and evaluating all staff.
  • Quality and Food Safety Oversight:

    • Provide proactive guidance to establish and maintain controls, programs, and organizational structures that comply with Food Safety, Regulatory, customer, and GFSI requirements. Experience with SQF Certification is preferred.
    • Design, implement, and verify analytical testing and procedures to ensure statistically significant results for the safe manufacture of products.
    • Implement a comprehensive training program covering GFSI requirements, Food Safety, and Quality Programs.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain Food Safety and Quality SOPs, Food Safety Plan/HACCP, GMPs, pest control, allergen control, Good Laboratory Practices, Traceability, Recall, and other applicable food safety/quality programs.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all regulatory agencies and customers.
  • Technical Expertise and Continuous Improvement:

    • Provide technical expertise to all departments, focusing on quality and food safety, continuous process improvement, and product development.
    • Utilize data to drive statistical process control (SPC) and implement process capability improvements.
    • Oversee the resolution of quality management issues, including KPI reporting, corrective action plans, analytical/microbiological concerns, and held inventory disposition.
    • Provide subject matter expertise in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
    • Evaluate and resolve customer/consumer product quality issues.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Implement and ensure adherence to all safety procedures related to plant operations.
    • Ensure compliance with company, local, provincial, and federal regulations, HACCP guidelines, and other programs designed to safeguard employees and customers.
  • Performance and Reporting:

    • Drive metrics and review plant performance for production, quality, donations, Right First Time, labor utilization, and financial results.
    • Communicate and review plant objectives regularly with all levels to ensure plant objectives are accomplished.
    • Identify and implement long-range, 3 to 10-year, facility-specific plans related to Food Safety and Quality functions.
  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Possess knowledge of meat and poultry product manufacture and familiarity with meat-processing equipment.
    • Understand sanitation requirements related to food production.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science/Food Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a QA Manager role.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel computer applications.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
  • Experience with GFSI requirements and SQF Certification is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • The role involves working in a manufacturing environment with standard industrial conditions.
  • The position may require occasional travel to other facilities or suppliers.
