Position Overview: As the Lead Database Developer, you will play a pivotal role in leading our database development initiatives and driving the design, implementation, and optimization of our database solutions. Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to a team of database developers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Database Design and Development: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of database solutions, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Performance Optimization: Drive efforts to optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning techniques, ensuring responsiveness and efficiency for critical applications.
- Data Integration: Oversee the integration of data from various sources into the database, ensuring data consistency, quality, and completeness throughout the data lifecycle.
- Data Migration and Upgrades: Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss while maintaining data integrity and security.
- Security and Compliance: Implement database security controls and data governance policies to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring and Alerting: Implement monitoring and alerting systems to track database performance and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Documentation and Best Practices: Define and promote best practices for database development, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation to facilitate understanding and collaboration among team members.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and business analysts, to understand requirements and deliver database solutions that meet business needs.
- Mentorship and Development: Mentor and coach junior developers, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for skill development and career growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in database development, with significant experience in designing, building, and optimizing database solutions.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully leading database development teams and delivering complex projects.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar.
- Strong understanding of database design principles and techniques, with expertise in designing and implementing data models and schemas.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques such as indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with database security, data governance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and optimize system performance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
