Position Description:

The VOLT Institute, a partnership between Opportunity Stanislaus and the Stanislaus County Office of Education, seeks an Industrial Maintenance Trainer for a local, privately funded training center. 

The VOLT training center’s primary goal is to produce a skilled, competent workforce prepared to meet the ever-changing demands of the regional labor market.  Curriculum, technology, and input on industry trends are provided by experts from some of the top companies in the State.

The VOLT Industrial Trainer will train Industrial Maintenance students, assuring they are technically capable of repairing and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment.  

Training Duties & Responsibilities:

Instruction will focus on a variety of electrical and mechanical training facets, including but not limited to AC/DC Electrical, Pneumatics, Welding/Fabrication, Mechanical Drives, Process Control Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, etc.

The Trainer will be responsible for the following:

  • Utilizing Amatrol training equipment as part of the hands-on training and practice.
  • Following industry-selected curriculum-training content that demonstrates the goals and outcomes of the program.
  • Ability to run a classroom modeled after the work environment with industry attendance and break time expectations.
  • Attend meetings as necessary to get updates on the progress and status of students and the overall program.
  • Submit student grades and manage student performance for all classes.
  • Regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at VOLT Institute.  Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled and be prepared to start working. 
  • Effectively engage and communicate with students and prospective students from diverse backgrounds, including culture, heritage, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, class, and religion.
  • Comply with all VOLT Institute and Opportunity Stanislaus policies and procedures, including but not limited to workplace safety, reporting work-related injuries, Infection Control, and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients, and others.
  • The list of job duties and requirements is not all-inclusive.  Management, at its discretion, may assign additional duties.

Qualifications/Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Ability to follow a curriculum and create an interactive learning environment to ensure course goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Effective Trainer who is capable of teaching students utilizing course content, humor, and a variety of instructional strategies to ensure each student achieves the learning goals.
  • Ability to evaluate students’ learning attainment and proactively make recommendations for adjustments when goals are not consistently attained.
  • Strong classroom leadership skills with the capacity to manage students, class time, and course training materials.
  • Solid time management and organization skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Team player, courteous, professional, and enthusiastic.
  • Bilingual a plus.

 

The ideal candidate will meet the following education and experience qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance or related focus OR (10) years of progressive experience in Industrial Maintenance.
  • 5 years of industrial maintenance and repair in an industrial setting, i.e., Industrial Electricity, Pneumatics/Hydraulics, Mechanical Drives.
  • 5 years of experience welding in an industrial setting.
  • Experience as a supervisor, team leader, or Trainer in an industrial environment is strongly desired.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license and ability to travel to meetings and training off-site.

  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle.
