Qualifications

  • 6 -10 years of experience in accounting for private credit, venture capital, or public equity funds
  • Experience interacting with 3rd party fund administrators, as well as “Big Four” audit and tax firms.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP for investment / portfolio companies, as well as accrual accounting
  • Proficient in interpreting and understanding private investment fund documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and monitor the marketplace for innovative technology solutions in accounting processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience interacting with private investment firms limited partners (LP’s)
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Exposure to SEC rules and regulations related to Registered Investment Advisors
  • Understanding of proper allocation of expenses between the Fund’s various entities (Fund, GP, and Management Company), as well as intercompany accounting of various Fund receivables and payables.
  • Being proactive with a strong desire to ensure the firm’s further growth and success, with a willingness to participate in various functional areas of the firm as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring accurate financial data, meeting reporting deadlines, and driving efficient accounting processes
  • Manage day-to-day accounting and vendor relationships with the fund’s third-party fund administrator and third-party compliance firm.
  • Oversee and guide the accounting and reporting processes for the firm and its funds
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports are prepared
  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting to limited partners, including capital calls, distributions, financial statements, and associated partners' capital accounts, in close collaboration with the firm’s external fund administrator.
  • Liaise directly with the firms largest limited partners
  • Review portfolio company financial statements and interact with portfolio company CEO’s and CFO’s on performance and financial reporting requirements
  • Monitor reporting requirements and receipt of financial reports required to be delivered by portfolio companies.
  • Oversee the firm’s compliance with SEC rules and regulations related to Registered Investment Advisors (in conjunction with the firm’s outsourced third-party compliance team)
  • Collaborate with technology and support personnel to maintain knowledge of system capabilities and best practices.
  • Support ongoing client development and management of both existing and prospective LP’s
  • Oversee the onboarding (along with that of third-party counsel and our third-party fund administrator) of Limited Partners looking to be admitted to the Fund
  • Apply US GAAP for investment companies to interpret investment legal documentation
  • Conduct technical research and apply US GAAP to ensure investment company accounting is consistent with “best practices”.
  • Assist with the firm’s efforts related to capital formation and interactions with third party placement agents.
