We are looking for a Senior Construction Project Manager to join our client who is a leading civil engineering contractor specializing in commercial and public space projects like parks, athletic facilities, general building development and unique specialty projects. Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Construction Project Manager with specialized expertise in wastewater, sewer, drainage, and stormwater runoff management. As a key member of our team, you will oversee complex projects, ensuring quality, adherence to timelines, and client satisfaction.

 

The Senior Construction Project Manager is also responsible for the following:

  • Ensure projects are consistently on schedule and within budget, promptly escalating risks to office management.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence to secure competitive pricing and quality from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Delegate project management tasks such as submittals and RFIs to the Office Engineer for streamlined execution.
  • Address performance issues directly with superintendents, project managers, assistant project managers, and office engineers; escalate unresolved issues to office management if necessary.
  • Integrate comprehensive safety measures into project plans to prevent potential issues.
  • Manage change orders for additional work requested beyond original bid documents.
  • Proactively advocate for substantial completion sign-off and oversee final punch-list completion and project close-outs.
  • Identify procurement trends and requirements, communicating needs to office management.
  • Ensure accurate daily crew productivity tracking by collaborating closely with the Superintendent.
  • Work collaboratively with the Superintendent to complete short-interval planning for enhanced project efficiency.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with all project stakeholders, including employees, subcontractors, customers, and representatives.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to Project Managers, maintaining oversight to ensure project alignment and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of construction project from pre-construction planning to project close-out for 2-3 projects simultaneously
  • Develop project schedule, budget, and schedule of values
  • Source subcontractors and vendors and negotiate for best price
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors including scope confirmation, subcontract creation, purchase orders, and risk mitigation; hand-off sub/vendor scheduling to Superintendent 2 weeks prior to being onsite
  • Work with superintendent to understand resource needs and appropriately allocate personnel
  • Complete monthly pay req's, obtaining approval from owner and handing off to treasurer
  • Manage submittal and RFI processes utilizing feedback from Superintendent
  • Create change orders for work performed outside of original bid documents and obtain approval from owner
  • Monitor and measure the job status weekly in order to confirm the project is on schedule and on budget including completion of short interval planning
  • Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients
  • Lead Pre-Construction and Project Close Out activities
  • Train and share expertise with Project Managers on project planning and execution including scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, and stakeholder management

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong, proven background in all facets of building and/or site construction work
  • Experience managing teams
  • Ability to visualize the final result of a project and phase the work
  • Previous experience in construction management or other related fields
  • Familiarity with construction management software
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 2-3 of these years focused on wastewater, sewer, drainage, and stormwater projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards in wastewater and drainage engineering.
