JOB PURPOSE

Based in our vendor partner offices in Menlo Park, CA, the Unreal Operator will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager, Production Supervisor and Coordinator, vendors, and the rest of the resources within the Gravity and vendor partner’s ecosystem to coordinate, prepare and supervise projects that will be run from client’s facility. With the expansion in our Virtual Reality/Extended Reality video teams, the Unreal Operator will help specify, deploy, and optimize virtual sets and environments for video production, and will work directly on the stage, operating the Unreal Engine station, when appropriate. Occasionally, this position may be required to attend a remote event and may be required to respond to critical situations after normal work hours. Gravity Media’s XR department helps operate high-end video production facilities on-site at our vendor partners’

global technology company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with production teams on the XR Stage during shoots, operating the Unreal Engine station to alter set and lighting characteristics.
  • Optimize virtual worlds for smooth playback on the XR Stage and elsewhere.
  • Work with studio teams to refine, deploy, and redeploy virtual set environments for studio productions.
  • Track, maintain, enhance, dress, and reset existing XR worlds and environments.
  • Backing up Unreal Projects and cleaning up Disguise project files.
  • Tech checking studio workflows and Unreal projects
  • Involved in regular scheduled studio maintenance.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Virtual Production experience a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Unreal Engine, including level design, lighting, tracking systems, LED tech, as well as experience with the visual effects pipeline.
  • General understanding of virtual production, cameras, focus and blocking.
  • Knowledge of stage hardware, workflow, and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with studio team and stakeholders.
    Familiar with OCIO/ACES color pipelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, ability to use telephone equipment.
  • Ability to lift to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.
