Patient Account Representative

Job DescriptionJob Description

Patient Account Representatives are responsible for all functions related to the collection of payment on patient accounts. Duties are generally assigned on a primary basis, but all personnel are cross-trained and may perform functions in the various business segments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with patients regarding their financial responsibility from services rendered
  • Document all calls timely and accurately in the patients’ account in the billing system
  • Establish payment arrangements per company policy
  • Manage outstanding self-pay accounts and status for management
  • Assist patients to pay their outstanding bill
  • Contact insurance companies to check eligibility and benefits via phone or online portals
  • Assist with other billing/collection duties, as needed
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and laws pertaining to Medical Collections
  • Possess strong customer service skills, with ability to build relationships
  • Call volume ranges from 100 to 125 calls per day

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is required, must be well spoken in English
  • 2 + years of experience in collections
  • Experience in Medical Collections preferred
  • Experience in Medical and Legal Collections optimal

  • Develops professional relationships and builds rapport with others.
  • Overall good work ethic and willingness to adapt to change.
