Job DescriptionJob Description

The Behavioral Health Provider/Clinician is an independent licensed provider who oversees the design, development, delivery, and oversight of all counseling services. These services ae designed to meet the needs of clients, including but not limited to, eligibility and intake, screening and assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual counseling, group intervention, family interventions, substanceabuse counseling, discharge planning, and other specialized counseling services.

Responsibilities:

 Directs the day-to-day operations of the counseling program and clinical practices while implementing programmatic and clinical policies and procedures to attain program goals and objectives.

 Supervises the BHT and staff providing intakes, group intervention, and other supportive clinical services.

 Makes programmatic and administrative recommendations to the CEO and Administrative staff.

 Provides guidance to the clinical staff and interns.

 Provides clinical oversight and training to paraprofessional staff.

Duties:

 Directs and coordinates co-occurring mental health and substance abuse counseling services.

 Develops comprehensive assessments/biopsychosocial, intakes, and treatment and discharge plans.

 Provide training, including regularly scheduled training and development activities for counseling staff in an adult-learner format.

 Develops and implements clinical and programmatic policies and procedures to assist with attaining program goals and objectives.

 Ensures proper client care is provided in accordance with agency policies, contracts, licensure, and accrediting agencies standards.

 Develops and implements the group intervention schedule and provides relevant curriculum.

 Oversees quality assurance in the counseling program’s service delivery including clinical care, case management and documentation.

 Oversees the program’s productivity to meet established standards and to ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive counseling services.

 Coordinates communication with other service components of the organization and outside agencies involved with clients.

 Adheres to the agency’s policies and procedures.

 Adheres to the agency’s code of ethics and complies with the state mental health code.

 Supports the program and staff as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

 Clinical expertise in crisis intervention, trauma informed care, and skill in working with the Behavioral health and substance abuse populations, and with individuals undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress.

 Skills in diagnosis, assessment, and documentation.

 Ability to work as part of a comprehensive team and to represent the agency in the Community and with Stakeholders.

 Skills in supervising, evaluating, and disciplining clinical and Paraprofessional staff.

 Familiarity with community support systems, health care and human service resources, court, and other legal resources.

 Good organizational skills, communication skills, and administrative abilities.

 Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including weekends.

 Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to a professional code of ethics.

 Knowledge of and the ability to comply with the state’s mental health code. Education and Experience:

 Master’s degree in a mental health, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, or another human services field.

 Licensed psychologist (Ph.D. Psy.D.) or Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional

(LISAC, LPC, LCSW, LMFT).

 At least five years of professional experience in the mental health or human services fields required with at least three years at the supervisory level preferred.

 Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a private vehicle. Physical Requirements:

 Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
