Job DescriptionJob Description

DM Electrical is looking for an experienced electrical estimator who is skilled and finds joy in estimating projects large and small.  

The successful Electrical Estimator will prepare cost estimates for electrical projects, bid projects, communicate with clients and suppliers, determine scope of work, review design options and price all field change orders, while working collaboratively with the full team. 

Objectives:

  • Bid with accuracy
  • Bid new work with a win ratio of 15-25%
  • Proactively bring VE ideas to each estimate
  • 100% of projects to be profitable
  • Research, analyze and document the estimating process at DM Electrical to find ways to be more efficient and profitable
  • Continually seek industry and market information to provide DM Electrical with the information necessary for successful business development

Responsibilities:

  • Determine the amount, type, and cost of materials and fixtures needed for each electrical project.
  • Determine the amount of labor required to complete each project.
  • Determine the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making sound bidding decisions.
  • Provide viable solutions to increase project profitability.
  • Complete and submit competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Regularly update cost databases to accurately reflect fluctuating material and labor costs in the Houston area.
  • Participate in site walks and pre-bid meetings

Qualifications:

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Be understanding of the electrical industry.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Intrinsically motivated, detail oriented and not accept “second-best.”
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a diverse, dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in DM Electrical's business strategies.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • History of successful bidding
