Behavioral Health Medical Office Assistant

The Behavioral Health Medical Office Assistant is an empathic individual with competent observational, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills who strives to meet patient needs and contribute to a positive patient care experience and work environment. Provides assistance and education directly to patients, functions as an integral part of a fast-paced behavioral health services office environment, and supports Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Behavioral Health Clinicians.

Job Responsibilities:

 Provide general office services including scheduling, front desk duties, filing, and medical records. Work within a team to provide general administrative support to 10 clinicians

 Provide support to Nurse Practitioners and coordinate psychotropic medication requests for refill via voice mail, fax, and electronic prescribing website

 Act as liaison between clinicians and patients regarding questions or concerns about medications, appointments, or other matters

 Responsible for preparing prior authorization of psychotropic medications;

 Organize and maintain medication samples closet

 Assist with other patient care activities as needed including providing and documenting screenings and collecting patient history or other information

 Assist patients on site with video connection to clinicians as needed

 Follow through with patient inquiries, requests and complaints. Forward difficult and non-routine inquiries or requests to appropriate level for resolution.

 Perform other office duties as assigned to support Paragon Behavioral Health’s mission and vision

Requirements:

 Previous experience in a medical or behavioral health office preferred but not required

 Able to work independently with strong sense of focus; task-oriented

 Able to work with a culturally diverse community with the ability to be culturally sensitive, appropriate, and non-judgmental

 Able to comprehend fundamental medical terminologies in behavioral health care delivery

 Work well under pressure and maintain a consistently pleasant and professional demeanor when communicating with patients, the public, and staff

 Able to demonstrate strong computer skills

 Able to fully protect the privacy of all patient and practice information

 Knowledgeable of, and maintain, HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality

 Strong interpersonal communication and written skills

 Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and a professional code of ethics
