Job DescriptionJob Description

The Government Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of government accounting for our government contracts. This role requires a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for government contracts, as well as strict adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other relevant regulations. You will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, prepare financial reports for government agencies, and maintain strong internal controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily accounting operations for all federal government contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other government accounting regulations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for government agencies, including incurred cost submissions, disclosure statements, and indirect cost proposals.
  • Analyze and reconcile government contract costs.
  • Maintain a strong system of internal controls for government contracts.
  • Manage and mentor junior accounting staff assigned to government contracts.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to government accounting regulations and policies.
  • Interface with government auditors and contracting officers.
  • Prepare and manage the government accounting budget.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures specific to government contracts.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and bids for new government contracts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in government accounting, with a focus on federal government contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR, CPFF, CAS, and other relevant government accounting regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor staff.
