Full Service law firm seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years experience as legal secretary/assistant out of plaintiff personal injury experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with legal documents and legal terminology is essential and familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of litigation management software systems (Smart Advocate a plus).
  • Experience using dictation and transcription software. • Knowledge of online court filing syste

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transcribe and proofread legal documents, memos, and correspondence.
  • Adeptly e-file documents with the court.
  • Handle follow-ups (for records, subpoenaed info, meetings, expert reports, etc.)
  • Process third party and vendor invoices.
  • Open mail and scan to appropriate electronic file.
  • Scan, copy and fax legal documents in a timely manner.
  • Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and redirect calls when appropriate.
  • Schedule and confirm meetings as needed.
  • Send out trial notices to client, expert, witnesses and update/maintain trial calendar.
  • Prepare and serve subpoena.
  • Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders to attorney.
  • Keep track of all experts in a particular case.
