NOW HIRING CASHIERS FOR OUR SHOPRITE OF FAIRLESS HILLS AND BENSALEM

Job Function:

To operate a cash register and check stand; to provide the store’s customers with the most accurate and efficient checkout service possible; to efficiently bag customers’ orders; deliver customer service according to company standards; perform stocking and other related duties, as assigned, depending upon the amount of time available, business volume, and other criteria according to company policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance (e.g. the

“Spot The Dot” program.)

· Promote a neat and favorable store image to customers by contributing to efforts to keep your

department clean, attractive, well stocked and friendly.

· Communicate any/all pricing discrepancies to front end management.

· Observe all store rules and company policies

· Count cash drawer and all other forms of tender (i.e. perform a cash audit of the contents in

assigned cash drawer at both the “start” and “end” of the actual work shift) as per the company

Cash Control policy.

· Be knowledgeable in and able to recognize or differentiate between all of the various types of

produce merchandise carried in the store including difference between varieties of similar

classes of products (e.g. apples, lettuce, etc.)

· Identify codes for produce, bulk food, bakery and food service items.

· Identify and select proper bag size and bag merchandise according to established company

policies and procedures. Place customer’s packages in their cart if needed.

· Assist customers in placing product on checkstands, when needed.

· Collect money in the form of cash, checks or electronic payments from customers and tender

accurate change in accordance with company policies and procedures.

· Knowledge of and skill in processing all of the various types of sales transactions accepted by

the store.. (i.e. Food Stamps, WIC, etc.)

· Perform general housekeeping duties surrounding the work station, using authorized cleaning

agents..

· Handle damaged, spoiled products or return-to-stocks, especially perishable items, according to

company policy.

· Utilize all equipment in a responsible manner.

· Follow company Loss Prevention guidelines regarding the handling of tills.

· Follow “Bottom of the Cart” guidelines.

· Perform other duties and assignments as directed.

Standards:

· Observe all store rules and company policies.

· Comply with company grooming and dress codes.

· Observe shift operating hours at all times as scheduled by the manager.

· Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.

· Comply with safety policies and procedures.

· Maintain good communications in the department and throughout the organization.

· Observe security standards by staying alert.

· Meet or exceed company standards regarding productivity and supply usage.

Requirements:

· Must be thoroughly familiar and willing to comply with all priorities and store policies

pertaining to the position, including punctual and reliable attendance.

· Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, etc.

· Must have the ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language

with sufficient proficiency.

· Must be knowledgeable in the various types of product carried in the store, as well as location.

· Must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities in an efficient and satisfactory manner

that meets the minimum standards for productivity, accuracy, cleanliness, harmony and safety.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to lift heavy objects occasionally.

· Must be able to sweep and mop floors and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied

outside the department.

· Must have sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other

emergencies such as cleanup requests due to accidental spills, etc.

· Ability to perform all physical activities related to any/all front end functions.
