Job Title: Body Shop Technician - Seasonal

North Central Bus and Equipment (NCBE) has been in the bus industry for over 60 years. NCBE is a division of St. Cloud Industrial Products, Inc. (SCIPI). We are a 100% employee-owned organization based in Central MN, employing 250 team members across the Midwest and Canada.

This position is located at our North Central St. Cloud location. St. Cloud, also known as the Granite City, is home to several parks and attractions highlighting our granite mining history. For example, Quarry Park and Nature Preserve is a 683 acre preserve with 20 former granite quarries and is a great place to swim, scuba, fish, climb, or admire.

 

Position Description:

Position responsibilities are to repair body damage to buses, commercial and school to near new condition. Paint buses, truck equipment and vehicles as needed. Other responsibilities include test driving, cleaning work area and repair reporting. This position offers approximately 30 hours per week and will run through August with a possibility extend.

 

Essential Functions

  • Remove and replace body panels
  • Repair damage to structure
  • Operate riveting equipment
  • Operate sandblasting equipment
  • Paint buses, equipment, and vehicles
  • Prep areas for painting
  • Apply body filler
  • Welding & Fabrication
  • Quality testing, functionality and road testing.

 

Metrics used to Measure Performance

Weekly Technician report – measures RO, indirect labor & available time. Monthly productively performance report. Reports generated from shop operating software.

 

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • knowledge of body repair and painting
  • welding and fabrication skills to repair damage
  • Ability to match paint.

 

Preferred Experience

Minimum of two years of related experience

 

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Ability to be on your feet to 7to 8 hours per day
  • Standing, crouching, and kneeling for extending periods of time.
  • Work in awkward or cramped positions and much of the work can be physically challenging.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with proper lifting tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work in adverse / extreme conditions such as: dusty environment, excessive climate conditions.
  • Seasonal overtime maybe required.

 

Required Licensures & Training

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required
  • Two-year technical college or ASE certifications preferred
  • Must acquire a class B CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement within the first 90 days of employment.
