Looking for a SPED Head Teacher and Classroom Aide for 6-8 year olds- 1st day August 16th
Our school is one of a kind, providing an education for “in-betweener” students who don’t need special education, but a large public school is too daunting. That’s where we come in. We differentiate instruction, scaffold friendships, and calmly handle those frustrated moments our students have. We provide the most personal education for each student, and an immense amount of parent communication and collaboration with in house specialists.
If you have a knack for connecting with kids that are unique, a little tricky, and need an alternative way to teaching, then we have life changing work for you.
We are looking for two high energy, individuals who are excellent with “tricky” kids This multi-aged 1st/2nd grade classroom, needs both a Head Special Ed Teacher and Classroom Aide/Undercover one on one. The position of the aide is one of both a classroom aide, and undercover one-on-one aide for a student who can have some aversions too school work and hyper activity. We want the student to feel like part of the class, and not depend on an aide, or feel different, so you will assist him, when needed, but still act as a classroom aide, assisting others, running centers, recess games, etc… Just there for him when he needs you and thinking of how to always include him in social activities.
The Head Teacher, must have extensive experience in creating curriculum for students with learning disabilities, particularly reading. You must excel in behavioral management, time management, parent communication, and have an overall passion to change the lives of children. You will run all aspects of a classroom of 8-10 students.
Aide: Who you are:
Experienced with “tricky” kids
Have a lot of energy, will initiate and play with students on the yard, create crafts and board games in the classroom.
Can run centers, and help students with classroom as directed by the head teacher.
Skilled at helping students with assignments that may be new, scary, and challenging for them
Excellent communication skills with co workers and parents
Must be able to physically move, lift, and engage with active children
Be creative and have a desire to bring art or science and creativity into the classroom
Have an arsenal of recess games, will get down on the ground and build a tower, and play dinosaurs.
Hours/Pay: $25 an hour
Monday-Thursday: 8am-3pm
Friday: 8am-1pm
Head Teacher:
*Preferred degree or credential in education
*Mandatory College Degree
Minimum 3 years as a head teacher
Prior worked in Special Education
Familiarity with learning disabilities, how to differentiate work for specific learners
Flexible, consistent, yet loving, and firm
AMAZING parent communication
Hours/Pay: $38-40 an hour DOE, and Education
Monday-Thursday: 8am-3pm
Friday: 8am-1pm
