SUMMARY

The Field Service Technician uses defined procedures to collect and pick-up samples for analysis.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Pickup and delivery to client locations

· Ensure maintenance of company vehicle is up to date.

· Inform management when vehicle license or inspection is due.

· Perform various written procedures to collect, sample, analyze and pick-up samples for analysis.

· Perform field sample analysis for temperatures, DO, pH and chlorine.

· Maintain standard operating procedure (SOP) for field sampling to include sampling and procedures for temperatures, DO, pH, and chlorine.

· Maintain records of daily or with each use of calibrations for DO, pH, and chlorine meters.

· Ensure documentation of lot numbers of reagents being used for traceability.

· Maintain courteous relationships with clients.

· Fill out chains of custody appropriately and uniquely label bottles before placing in coolers.

· Assure that the sampling equipment and sampling technique is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.

· Be able to communicate with team members and clients to ensure proper sampling or collection.

· Be able to meet client turnaround times and sample hold times.

· Perform tasks and maintain records as assigned by supervisor, QA, or management.

· Assure that the housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.

· Be able to understand and follow EPA and other environmental protocols and procedures.

· Ensure that all work is generated in compliance with policies and the A & B QA Plan.

· Provide the QA Manager, Laboratory Manager, Supervisor and/or Technical Manager with immediate notification of quality problems.

 

CHARACTERISTICS

The Field Service Technician must have good personal habits, work well with others, be technically conscientious, be able to stay on task and complete work on schedule, be able to work independently as well as on a team, and promote the principles and professionalism of the company.

 

EDUCATION

Minimum of High School Diploma

 

REQUIREMENTS

Valid TX Driver License, Clean Driving Record, Ability to obtain TWIC

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Customer Service and Laboratory experience is recommended, but not required. Must be computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Proficient in the Windows environment and use of Internet E-mail.

 

OTHER SKILLS

· Must be organized

· Must have good written and oral communication skill (English)

· Must manage multiple projects with minimal supervision

· Must be able to work flexible hours, as required

· Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs

· Must be able to work under timely conditions.

· Must be able to handle hazardous materials appropriately and safely

· Must have valid driver’s license

· Must have a good driving record

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will occur in a laboratory, office and field environment. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including, but not limited to eye safety glasses, gloves, and other personal protective equipment. The employee may be required to stand, walk or move to various locations around the office and laboratory. This includes but is not limited to shelving and retrieving samples from walk-in coolers. At the office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Extensive local travelling is required.

 

WORK AUTHORIZATION

This position requires proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.

 

UNPLANNED ACTIVITIES

This position requires flexibility and adaptability. There will be tasks assigned that are outside of this job description from time to time.

 

BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG TESTING POLICY

Selected candidates will undergo a background check and will be required to take a Drug Test (hair follicle) prior to start working with company. Company will pay for drug test cost. If tested positive, Company will not submit a job offer to selected candidate.
