Position Overview:
As a key member of our production team and reporting to the Production Manager, you will oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of production activities within our facility. You will directly manage a team of 30-40 employees, including responsibilities such as recruitment, training, and conducting annual performance evaluations. You will support and coordinate all aspects of manufacturing, engineering, production, warehouse operations, and facility management. You will also ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards by effectively communicating with the responsible teams. Your role will involve supervising CNC, assembly, and warehouse operations to ensure that production and quality targets are consistently met. You will also manage engineering changes, new product specifications, and provide input into budget planning for expenses and capital investments. This position involves resolving escalated issues requiring interdepartmental coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set priorities and manage daily activities of assigned personnel through clear and effective communication.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement focused on defect reduction through robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Guide process innovations and drive the organization towards world-class manufacturing standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to proactively address production and tooling/fixture issues.
- Lead and motivate a cohesive team to meet daily production targets through effective management and communication.
- Monitor production performance and quality metrics, adjusting strategies as needed to meet forecasts.
- Report on key performance indicators and provide daily/weekly updates as required.
- Manage and allocate factory resources, equipment, and assets to ensure production schedules are met.
- Enforce company policies and ensure fair application across all employees.
- Oversee the implementation of safety and environmental practices, ensuring OSHA compliance.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of employee training and maintain qualification matrices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Core Competencies:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Expertise in manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, testing, and coatings.
- Proficiency in manufacturing quality, product, and process development methodologies.
- Knowledge of efficient warehousing and material delivery processes.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Proficient in project management and lean manufacturing methodologies, including TPM, 5S, and visual factory concepts.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in manufacturing settings.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and machinery.
- Strong knowledge of EH&S practices and OSHA requirements.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with a preference for experience in automation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience preferred.
- 7-10 years of supervisory experience is strongly desired.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize production challenges as they arise.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with employees, vendors, and the public.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong presentation abilities.
- Excellent written communication skills and organizational capabilities.
