Human Resources (HR) Director

My client, a well-known Auto Dealership with locations in the DC metro area, Florida and PA is looking for a Director of Human Resources to lead their organization. The company has been in business for over 50 years and is looking for a leader to take the company to the next level.

Position Overview: The HR Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the human resources strategy to support our automotive retail business. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of HR best practices, compliance, talent management, and organizational development. The HR Director will work closely with senior and executive leadership to align HR strategies with business goals and foster a high-performance culture across our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic HR Leadership:
    • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and growth plans.
    • Partner with senior and executive leadership to address organizational challenges and opportunities, providing strategic HR insights and solutions.
    • Lead the development and execution of HR policies and programs that support organizational goals and compliance.
  2. Talent Management:
    • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent in the automotive retail industry.
    • Develop and implement associate development and succession planning programs to build a strong leadership pipeline.
  3. Employee Relations:
    • Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns, managing conflict resolution, and promoting effective communication.
    • Develop and implement associate engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and retention.
    • Investigate all complaints of harassment, discrimination, etc. in a timely manner and compile detailed investigation reports of interviews, documentation, resolution, etc.
  4. Compensation and Benefits:
    • Partner with Department Leaders and CFO to assist with the design and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain talent.
    • Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure compensation structures are competitive within the automotive retail sector.
  5. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Manage HR-related risk by implementing best practices and conducting regular audits of HR policies and practices.
  6. Organizational Development:
    • Lead initiatives to promote organizational development, including change management, team building, and leadership development.
    • Analyze organizational metrics and feedback to drive continuous improvement and HR innovation.
  7. Leave Administration:
    • Audit leave of absence tracker to ensure all associate documentation has been submitted and approvals/denials have been issued within a timely manner
    • Review and make determinations on all medical certifications for FMLA, ADA, and Short-term Disability programs within the required timeframes
  8. HR Operations:
    • Oversee the HR department's daily operations, including managing HR staff and resources.
    • Implement and leverage HR technologies to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM/PHR) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role. Experience in automotive retail is HIGHLY preferred.
  • Proven track record in strategic HR planning, talent management, and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations applicable to the automotive retail sector.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity preferred) and data analytics is required
