Job DescriptionJob Description

Position Overview: The Heritage Lead Teacher plays a vital role in providing educational support and enrichment to students participating in our afterschool program. This position entails tutoring students in various subjects, particularly focusing on world heritages, and introducing them to different foreign languages on a monthly basis. Additionally, the Lead Teacher will maintain open communication with parents and organize student pick-up schedules.

Hours: Afternoons from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Qualifications:

  • Preference for twelve post-secondary or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or completed child development courses with passing grades from an accredited institution.
  • Associate Degree in any subject
  • Minimum of six months of work experience in a licensed Child Care center.
  • Passion for history and enthusiasm for creating engaging educational experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the director to oversee the daily operations of the afterschool program.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate weekly themed lesson plans focused on language and heritage education.
  • Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring student engagement and safety.
  • Set up and maintain an organized and stimulating classroom environment, including decorative displays and creative learning areas.
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness in all classroom and student-used areas, managing materials within budgetary constraints.
  • Prepare and distribute snacks or meals as assigned.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to aides and drivers, ensuring adherence to their responsibilities.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns promptly to the program director for resolution.
