AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a federal year of service program. AmeriCorps VISTA build capacity in the organizations they serve by researching, implementing, and overseeing sustainable projects. Members will serve at MOBC’s main site. Members receive a living allowance and, upon successful completion of hours, an education award of $7,395. Job Description

The VISTA HR Specialist will focus on new and innovative ways for MOBC to address three areas of strategic growth: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI); Safety; and Employee Policies. This VISTA will assess needs and develop projects/policies to update our organization’s response to each of these three areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review current training offered by Martha O’Bryan around DEI, researching ways to improve programs and education regarding organizational values.

  • Complete a staff survey to collect data to assist in determining what an effective DEI plan would look like for the organization.

  • Create a database of relevant training information (starting with ADP), including in-person webinars, online classes, and relevant professional development (PD) trainings and resources.

  • Research, create, and pilot DEI—PD project plan.

  • Review current employee training material regarding safety protocols and expectations.

  • Collect data to research current laws, both state and federal, and the Center’s policies to assist in updating the Center’s policies for the Safety Manual and Employee Handbook.

Required:

  • Over 18 years of age

  • College degree or working towards the completion of a degree
