Engineering Manager

INDUSTRY: Tier One automotive supplier; CNC / Screw Machine (ASM) environment

INCOME: up to $125K plus bonus

COMPANY:

Over 75 years of experience, and a wide range of machining capabilities, technology, and products have made this company a leader in the precision machining industry. Less than 2% turnover of employees, and the average employee spends over 10 years with this company. They are a Tier One, automotive supplier working with the major greater-Detroit automotive OEMs.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

· Engineering experience in a CNC and screw machine environment

· Leadership roles; giving guidance, being a team player, and having trained other Associates (not necessarily direct supervision roles)

· Verbal and written communication skills

· AutoCAD or Solidworks

· Advanced knowledge of blueprint, GD&T

· APQP documentation

· CNC machines (must have); knowledge of controllers Fanuc / Seimens, programming with CAM packages, knowledge of CNC turning (up to 5-6 axis), and milling (up to 4-axis)

· Screw machines (highly desired); ACME Gridley knowledge

· For machining: improving cycle times, speeds and feeds, and extending machine life

· CNC grinders (highly desired); knowledge of centerless grinding

· Experience processing, programming and setting up first runs on multi-axis mills or lathes / swiss type lathes.

· CAD/CAM software experience

· Ability to document engineering data, standard work, process sheets, set up instructions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

· Lead and coordinate process improvement teams pertaining to tooling and production processes.

· Participate with assigned product launches from beginning to completion.

· Engineer tasking; planning, purchasing, create / debug programming and installing equipment / machining.

· Proving out process improvements and performance of equipment.

· Review product design for compliance with company, customer, and industry standards.

· Select the optimum machine tool for the application of the part/process.

· Assist in cost estimating of tooling, work holding and any required components.

· Calculate feeds, speeds, chip loads and cycle times.

· Develop work holding fixturing and tooling concepts.

· Set up, debug, optimize, and prove out process prior to turn over to production.

· Prepare detailed set up sheets, work instructions and tool lists.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage engineers and CNC programs and/or technicians.
  • Plan assignments, set goals and objectives.
  • Allocate resources, schedule team members and assign work.
  • Manage changing priorities and customer needs.
  • Recommend new technology and software.
  • Interact with other manger’s development strategic plans and goals for the division.
  • Oversee or lead major technical projects tracking objectives, timing and programs.
  • Interact with the engineering group to identify solutions for technical or machining problems.
