We are seeking a licensed mechanical engineer who is also well versed in plumbing engineering and will be primarily responsible for the review and approval of design and engineering for residential and non-residential mechanical and plumbing systems and components. As a senior member of the engineering team, you work on planning projects, managing document review, and determining approval of the work of junior engineers or designers before production or implementation. A PE mechanical engineer must approve the creation of construction documents, design reports, technical documents. As a national engineering and design firm we require multi-state PE credentials. However, the primary focus will be the middle and eastern United State.


Essential responsibilities/skills

  • Mechanical Engineering degree from ABET accredited university, and 7+ years design experience with proven competency with designing for residential and commercial buildings.
  • PE credentials in 7+ states, and ability/drive to gain credential in all operational regions
  • Required PE state: FL, GA, ID, NC, SC, TN, TX.
  • Additional operational states: (AR, AZ, CA, CO, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NM, OH, OK, OR, UT, WI)
  • Detailed understanding of national codes and applicable state mechanical and plumbing codes. Ability review, report and retain code specific knowledge for state/jurisdiction level construction document submittals.
  • Review, comment, and sign and seal designs prepared by the mechanical engineering team
  • Assist in setting the SOP for the department
  • Resolve field issues at the highest level
Requirements:

Needed soft skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter and perform assignments with minimal supervision.
  • A valid driver’s license without travel time restrictions.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and be resourceful
  • Exhibits a strong executive presence and has high level of interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Be willing to learn and adapt to inevitable company policy and procedural changes
  • High level of quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills


“Nice to have” skills

  • Proficient in AUTOCAD
  • Prior experience report writing is preferred but not required
  • Experience in construction defects and deficiencies
  • Proficient in MS office

Work Schedule:

Generally Monday – Friday day shift, however additional hours, including weekend hours, may be required in accordance with changing business needs.
