The ideal candidate for the MEP role will have a robust background in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems design and implementation, particularly within aviation infrastructure. This position requires close collaboration with various teams to ensure the optimal functionality of MEP systems in airport settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing MEP systems for aviation facilities such as terminals, hangars, control towers, and fueling stations.
- Performing feasibility assessments, energy evaluations, and lifecycle cost analyses to enhance MEP system designs.
- Working alongside architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into project plans.
- Overseeing MEP design consultants and contractors to guarantee adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Reviewing and validating MEP drawings, specifications, and construction documents for precision and thoroughness.
- Conducting technical assessments of MEP equipment and systems to confirm they meet performance, safety, and sustainability objectives.
- Providing specialized knowledge in airport-specific MEP systems, including airfield lighting, fueling infrastructure, baggage handling, and HVAC systems.
- Carrying out site inspections and supervising MEP installations to ensure compliance with design intent and regulatory standards.
- Collaborating with airport authorities, regulatory bodies, and external consultants to secure necessary approvals and permits.
- Staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in MEP technology pertinent to aviation projects.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and constructing airfield electrical systems for airport lighting is crucial.
- Regularly reporting project updates and findings to senior management.
- Familiarity with airport safety and security regulations, FAA grants, and related compliance requirements is highly beneficial.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline (master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, with eligibility for licensure in TX.
- 5-7 years of experience in MEP engineering, focusing on aviation or airport-related projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC) as they apply to MEP systems in airport environments.
- Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP) and familiarity with BIM processes.
- Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Experience in sustainable design practices and LEED certification is advantageous.
- Project management experience is preferred.
