ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transportation drivers are responsible for the safe pickup and return of patients to CAHN medical facilities.
- Transportation drivers must be able to communicate effectively with CAHN personnel to establish patient pickup as needed.
- Transportation drivers must be flexible in arranging pickup routes and deviating routes on short notice.
- Transportation drivers will assist with other duties where driving is required, such as mail pickup and delivery when needed, assist with delivery of grocery products and assistance with any additional CAHN programs as they are developed.
- CAHN is a very fluid organization. Duties can change with little notice and as noted above flexibility is needed but more important, the delivery of exemplary customer service to both internal and external sources.
- Transportation drivers will maintain a sound and safe driving record at all times. All transportation drivers are required to report any traffic violation, whether it occurred off the clock or on the clock, to the transportation and / or maintenance supervisor.
- Transportation vehicles will be kept clean at all times. Capital Area Health
Network is a health organization consisting of seven medical centers that serves the metropolitan area of Richmond, Virginia. Transporting patients in a clean and safe vehicle demonstrates the driver’s and CAHN’s commitment to excellence and stewardship. - Transportation vehicles will be checked for its smooth operation on a daily basis.
Safety must be observed at all times when it involves the welfare of our
patients, staff and vendors. - Transportation drivers are expected to perform the above tasks as well as any task the transportation or maintenance supervisor deem necessary.
- During idle time, it is a good practice to assist other CAHN employees with their operation. This exemplifies teamwork and a willingness to go above and beyond to assist CAHN in maintaining its mission.
- Transportation drivers must maintain a neat and professional appearance. Clean and wrinkle free clothing. Men should wear a collared shirt (polo acceptable). Women must be appropriate. No unnecessary exposure.
- Transit wagons are not for personal use and should be parked at the location determined by CAHN at the end of the business. Situations may arise where we can deviate from the parking and use, but supervisory approval is a must.
EDUCATION, TRAINGING, AND REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of high school or GED.
- Previous experience in a medical is setting preferred, but not required.
- Commercial Driver’s License preferred, but not required

- Must be honest and reliable.
- Always prepared to work hard for the team and possess a positive attitude that creates a favorable working environment and promotes good morale.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
