We are seeking a part-time, in-home Chef to prepare in-home meals. This position will require the candidate to prepare and serve meals at a consistent scheduled time five (5) days per week; at or around 5:30 PM.  This position is a part-time role where the estimated weekly hours are between 20 and 25 hours per week in a private home setting. The in-home chef will be given a dedicated kitchen to work and prepare meals in. In most cases,  the chef would be preparing food for one (1) person with infrequent requests to have meals prepared for multiple guests. As a part of this job role, you should be able to communicate and make note of the meal preferences, requirements, food allergies and any other dietary restrictions. 

The role requires the preparation and serving of nightly dinner meals at or around 5:30 PM, as well as lunch prep to be portioned and ready for the following day. The role also requires the Chef to shop for for ingredients and check the same for quality and expiry date. The ideal candidate demonstrates top-notch culinary skills and should have a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate is familiar with various cuisine styles, flavor profiles, and kitchen equipment. Your ability to prepare and present meals creatively will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities 

  • Communicating to determine food preferences and dietary restrictions for owners and guest(s)
  • Ensuring any food allergies or particular meal preparation specifications are reflected in prepared meals
  • Stocking various ingredients and kitchen tools
  • Reviewing ingredients and other packaged food products to check for quality and consumption date 
  • Adhering to the food, safety, and hygiene standards at all times 
  • Cleaning and maintaining the work station before and after every meal preparation 
  • Plating and serving dinner on time 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent 
  • Proven work experience in the Hospitality industry as a Personal Chef, Chef, Cook , or a similar role 
  • Professional Culinary training or certification is desirable 
  • Knowledge of various cooking and cuisine styles 
  • Proven time management and organizational skills 
  • Having an eye for detail 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Willingness to work for flexible hours (estimated work week is 25 hours a week) 
  • Highly motivated and creative individual
