Supplier Quality engineer:

Overview: Join the team as a Supplier Quality Engineer to uphold and enhance manufacturing and supplier quality standards. You will work across product lines to analyze non-conforming parts, manage material dispositions, and initiate supplier corrective actions. Collaborate with purchasing to resolve and prevent supplier issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Standards: Maintain and apply standards for manufacturing, supplier quality, design, and material integration.
  • Issue Resolution: Analyze non-conforming parts, manage material dispositions, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Supplier Management: Oversee supplier performance, develop QA/control plans, and audit compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and support supply chain teams, and drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Maintain and report on Supplier Quality metrics and improvement programs.
  • Collaboration: Work with internal departments, external partners, suppliers, and customers to ensure high-quality standards.

Duties/Skills:

  • Handle reported product non-conformances and provide feedback.
  • Initiate corrective actions to eliminate supplier and process deficiencies.
  • Manage suppliers, provide engineering support, and lead continuous improvement plans.
  • Create and modify Supplier QA control plans and inspection procedures.
  • Review design and purchasing documentation to ensure accurate quality criteria.
  • Lead or participate in root cause investigations and CAPA/RCCA projects.
  • Support performance reviews for complex products and processes.
  • Review product/process changes proposed through engineering change orders.
  • Perform QA reviews of engineering documentation, factory, and field procedures.
  • Utilize data collection and analysis to verify products meet design requirements.
  • Support facility inspections/audits by customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead Lean/Six Sigma and other Quality Improvement projects.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience required; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience in supply chain or product engineering for semiconductor, defense, or large complex capital equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience in product performance reporting, overseeing MRB, supplier scorecards, root-cause corrective actions, and process control agreements.
  • Lean & Six Sigma experience required; Green belt or black belt certification preferred.
  • Significant experience with root cause and corrective action.
  • Proven success in leading process improvement teams.
  • Experience with Supplier Control plan creation, validation, and auditing.
  • Familiarity with creating test plans, procedures, and reports for high-tech capital equipment.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly workmanship standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Project, Visio, and Access is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of product/quality development and control methods, including Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and CAPA/RCCA. Familiarity with DfX, DfSS, and DOE is a plus.
