Maintenance Mechanic

Location: West Boylston, MA

Position Overview:

Maintain all the manufacturing production equipment and physical plant facilities Under the direction of the Maintenance Mechanic and Project Coordinator. Perform repair and maintenance of the following variety of production and building equipment: press brakes, welding machines, shears, hand power tools, compressors, service piping, and plumbing fixtures. General maintenance of the interior of the facility such as patching and painting.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Follow all safety procedures and always work in a safe manner.

  2. Receive work assignments and make sure that the necessary supplies, materials, templates, tools, etc. are available to perform the work.

  3. Set up the work area to perform the specific operations in the appropriate sequence, ensuring that safe work practices are followed at all times such as lock-out/tag-out of all power sources, EPA considerations, and general good practice. Notify the appropriate persons if safety equipment such as the sprinkler system will be off-line.

  4. Perform the specific operations that are required, alerting supervision to any unforeseen problems that may delay bringing equipment back on line or may require capital expenditure.

  5. Call in outside help when work is beyond the capabilities of self or department workers, such as licensed electricians or plumbers.

  6. Swipe a time card for the proper recording of time worked and production time measurement. Create and maintain maintenance records for all plant and facilities equipment such as cranes and hoists, vehicles such as forklifts, and production machine tools.

  7. Provide training and familiarization to other employees as required. Provide supervision to assigned personnel including appraising performance and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

  8. Keep the work area neat and orderly.

  9. Coordinate, update and maintain the PM Schedule.

  10. Coordinate and provide direction to any contractors that are brought in. Ensure everyone knows and follows Curtis safety policies.

  11. Must be able to safely operate a scissor lift to work on lights and fixtures.

  12. Perform other departmental duties as required.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND TRAINING NEEDS:

Vocational School or experience in facilities or industrial maintenance or janitorial roles are a plus.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY:

Work under minimal supervision and be responsible for describing technical/mechanical approaches to projects.
