Senior Associate Attorney, (Full-Time, Exempt, Supervisorial)

Handle civil litigation and criminal matters from inception to resolution, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, and representing clients in court proceedings and/or administrative hearings. Supervise junior associate attorney and review work product.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Handle and independently manage a caseload of criminal and civil matters from inception to resolution.
• Monitor and manage deadlines, ensuring timely and effective case progression.
• Ability to provide thorough and practical assessments and advice while advocating for clients in and out of court during the legal collection process.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop effective case strategies.
• Communicate with opposing counsel and pro se parties to resolve disputes and negotiate matters to an amicable resolution.
• Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
• Draft written discovery and responses to written discovery.
• Meets with clients to review responses to written discovery requests, prepare for depositions, and prepare for trial testimony.
• Prepare for, attend, and conduct client meetings, depositions, mediations, trials, and hearings.
• Document account/file activity in accordance with the Firm and client policies and procedures.
• Travel to various courts in the State and effectively handle all aspects of a case's litigation life cycle.
• Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and formulate legal opinions for review by supervising attorney.
• Communicate with clients in a responsive manner to maintain and further develop client relationships.
• Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain current and well-informed of any local, state, or federal changes in the law, rules of court or court procedures.
• Supervise and work with junior associate attorney(s) as part of a collaborative team with delegation of tasks and review and revision of junior associate work product.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
• 5 years’ experience in plaintiffs civil litigation, preferably within a law firm setting.
• Experience in the courtroom, taking depositions, drafting discovery, and drafting a variety of motions.
• Strong legal research and writing skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in use of email, search engines, internet, Microsoft Products/Office365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive), cloud-based computing products, and CASEpeer.
• Experience with tracking, recording, and billing time based on the billable hour
• Communicates with a kind, helpful and friendly tone and demeanor; ability to speak clearly and professionally across all media with others inside and outside the firm.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to generate documentation in a way that is accurate, clear, timely and with sufficient detail.
• Ability to conduct complex legal data analysis/research, present ideas in business-friendly manner following legal protocols.
• Keeps knowledge updated through educational opportunities, publications, networking, and professional associations.
• Highly self-motivated, resourceful, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
• Highly organized, team-oriented, and collaborative to meet business needs in a small office setting.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple projects and work independently in a high-pressure environment to meet changing business needs.
