Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Attorney at Burrows & Stutsman LLP in San Diego, CA, with flexibility for remote work. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional legal support to our attorneys, contributing to the growth and development of our practice, and ensuring the highest level of service to our clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled legal professional to take on a leadership role and shape the future of our organization.


Duties

  • Comprehensive management of a full case load of pre-litigation and active litigation files.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, discovery, discovery motions, dispositive motions, and trial preparation documents.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to prepare for meetings, depositions, and negotiations, providing valuable insights and strategic advice.
  • Conduct legal research to advise clients of the merits of their claims and those asserted against them.
  • Negotiate with clients, opposing counsel, and other interested parties to resolve legal disputes and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status and strategy.
  • Offer strategic guidance and support to junior attorneys, contributing to their professional growth and development.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of the State Bar of California
  • 4+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on civil litigation (insurance defense a plus)
  • Proficiency in legal research software, including Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw, and a willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
  • Experience in legal research and analysis
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • A strong understanding of legal procedures and the ability to apply them in a variety of contexts
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
  • Trial experience not required, but is a plus
