Certified Medical Coder with Outpatient experience needed to work temp to perm in Garden City, NY. This position will be onsite Monday – Friday 8am-4:30pm. Ideally candidates will be a Certified Coder with at least 1 year of Outpatient Coding. Salary will depend upon experience. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Computer experience is essential, including, but not limited to practice management software, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding; familiarity with medical terminology
  • Code all diagnosis, operative procedures, and diagnostic procedures
  • Codes and abstracts Inpatient records and Ambulatory surgery records
  • Codes and abstracts Clinic records utilizing the acuity grid assigned
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure maximum entitled reimbursement.
  • Responsible use of confidential information.
  • Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and work courteously and respectfully with fellow employees, clients, and patients.

DETAILED WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors.
  • Process Outpatient claims.
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission.
  • Timely follow up on insurance claim denials, exceptions, or exclusions.
  • Reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits.
  • Make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies.
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and providers.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisory or Management team.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:

  • Medical Coder Certification
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) / Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) / Certified Coding Specialist (CCSP)
