Position Summary: The Warehouse and Trucking Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse operations and trucking logistics. This includes overseeing the storage, inventory management, and distribution of goods, as well as managing our fleet of trucks and drivers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and operations, with excellent leadership skills and the ability to optimize processes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient and safe handling, storage, and distribution of goods.
- Manage inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Implement and maintain warehouse policies and procedures, including safety protocols and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with clients to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and delivery.
- Optimize space utilization and workflow to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Trucking Operations Management:
- Supervise and manage the company's fleet of trucks and drivers, ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Plan and coordinate routes, schedules, and dispatching to maximize efficiency and meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring that all trucks are in good working condition and minimizing downtime.
- Recruit, train, and manage drivers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Oversee the coordination of backhauls and optimize load planning to reduce empty miles and increase profitability.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of warehouse staff and truck drivers, providing training and support as needed.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any issues or concerns promptly.
Customer Relations & Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns or issues and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand client needs and develop customized logistics solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on operations and performance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in warehouse and trucking operations management, preferably within a 3PL or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and motivating teams.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on optimizing processes and reducing costs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience in a family-owned or small business environment.
