San Francisco, United States Russell Tobin Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

12+ month contract
Hybrid - Seattle, WA
$58-68/hr W2 DOE

As a Privacy Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our technologies and processes respect privacy and safeguard the personal data of millions worldwide. This position embodies our core values, including 'Build with Heart' and 'Do the Right Thing,' by prioritizing the safety and privacy of our users. You'll be instrumental in our commitment to creating positive impacts on our communities and partners, ensuring that as we push the boundaries of what's possible, we also maintain the trust and safety of our platform for everyone.

About the job
We are seeking a talented Privacy Engineer to join our Technical Privacy organization to manage the Technical Privacy Review program. This group provides essential tools and consultancy services to over 4,000 engineers throughout the company.

The Privacy Engineer, positioned within the Privacy Architecture team, will oversee the technical privacy review triage and serve as the primary contact for anything TPC-related. This role involves working with privacy architects and engineers to identify, manage, prioritize, and track privacy controls and remediations. Additionally, this individual will ensure SLAs for review tickets are met and that privacy remediations are tracked and managed effectively.

The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker capable of effectively collaborating with various stakeholders and partners in a fast-paced environment, resolving roadblocks independently, and driving progress to mitigate overall privacy risks. This role is well-suited for someone who is comfortable with continuous learning and swift action, creating processes that accelerate engineering rather than impede it.

What the Candidate Will do
- Triage and review incoming review requests of technical software design / architecture and perform technical privacy reviews
- Provide frequent updates on metrics and ensure that privacy review SLAs are met
- Implement process improvements (ensure consistent tracking of tickets/fixes, create and manage dashboards for reporting, etc.).
- Contribute to LLM powered projects in order to automate technical privacy reviews.
- Work with Engineering tools (Jira) and dashboarding tools (Tableau).

What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or hands on experience with Privacy-by-Design
- Solid understanding of privacy principles, threats, risks and fundamentals
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Privacy Engineer as part of a privacy review program
- Experience with data management/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and Engineering tools (e.g,. Jira). These will be required to gather metrics about the review process and make improvements.
- Advanced Jira and Excel skills
- Clear and effective communication skills for various audiences (lawyers, engineers, data scientists, product leads).
- The ability to handle a high volume of incoming requests and track their progress.
- The ability to operate collaboratively and efficiently in a fluid, ambiguous environment.
- Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a bias towards action.

Bonus Points If:
- Software engineering experience with a complex tech stack
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume, agile environment
- Experience managing large-scale, company-wide processes and identifying process improvements.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and working with engineers.
- Industry-related certifications such as CIPT.
