General Summary:

Carry out various duties necessary for the functioning of the Collection/Lending department. Serve our Membership by assisting members in their financial needs along with creating an awareness of all products and services to new and current members.

Essential Functions:

Level I

  • Provide assistance as a member contact with delinquent accounts by reviewing and providing directional support on past due accounts.
  • Assist in conducting collection calls on past due loans/over drawn deposit accounts.
  • Assist in the recovery and sale process of repossessions.
  • Process daily delinquent notices 5, 7, 14 or 15 days / Right to Cure Letters / Health & Accident Insurance Claims.
  • Assist in reporting delinquencies/foreclosures/recovery plans to Management and Board of Directors.

  • Develop the knowledge of all state and federal regulations that are applicable to the processing of delinquent loans/deposit accounts to stay in compliance.

  • Develop a working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Act and consumer protection laws/acts.

  • Submit list for approval and then turn files over to attorney for judgments and other legal action

  • Assist with NADA Book value inquirers.

  • Assist in the processing of claims for the payment protection programs

  • Assist in auditing In-direct loans prior to purchase

  • Develop a working knowledge of the Credit Union’s data processing and collection system.

  • Develop an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.

Level II

  • Obtain the ability to cross sell all credit union products to provide financial services for new and current members.

  • Assist in taking deposit/loan applications by conducting the interview process gathering background information within our product written guidelines or as directed by designated management.

  • Maintain rate and terms of deposit/loan products to assist in providing quotes to members.

  • Continue to cross train throughout the credit union departments to maintain product knowledge/services to up sell and cross sell to our member’s benefit.

  • Handle acquisition and sale of foreclosure properties

  • Process the claims for the payment protection program

  • Function as a backup New Accounts/Loan Officer when/where needed.

Additional Functions

  • Actively support our “sales and service “culture and demonstrate these skills by communicating to members the benefits and features of all our products and services.
  • Expect/embrace change by being flexible and adaptable with the ability to work independently and in a team environment with positive work actions. Meet performance objectives and expectations (i.e. Sales, Service and Reliability).
  • Participate in community and business-related events conducting oneself in a professional manner in relationship to all credit union activities
  • Develop a working knowledge of competitor’s products/services with continued interest in improving quality products/services for the credit union.
  • Complete in-house training based on required classes set up for this position.

  • Assist in any area as directed by management.

Job Specifications:

  • 1-2 years of financial institution experience with service/sales experience.
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for servicing our members in person/phone/electronic communication use and projecting a positive attitude/professional image as a representative in relationship to all credit union activities.
  • Considerable judgment is required. Analyzes complicated factual situations, applies functional principles and develops solutions.
  • Involves a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Involves work governed by broad instructions and usually involves frequently changing conditions and problems.
