Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Medical Assistant to support our two primary care nurse practitioners. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in an outpatient office, excellent communication skills, and a knack for multitasking. If you're strong with computers and electronic medical records (EMR), can efficiently manage various tasks, and bring an optimistic, positive attitude to work, we'd love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Perform lab draws and prepare lab orders.

    • Administer injections as ordered by providers.

    • Take vital signs and complete medical reconciliation based on patient intake forms prior to provider visits.

    • Assist patients with intake forms and ensure their information is accurately entered into e-charts.

    • Follow up on referrals and communicate with patients about lab results.

    • Schedule follow-up telehealth appointments when necessary.

    • Pre-fill patient charts based on intake information to streamline provider visits.

  • Administrative Tasks:

    • Complete prior authorization forms and manage the submission process.

    • Fill out medical records requests and ensure proper documentation is maintained.

    • Manage the lab box and ensure all lab specimens are ready for pickup.

    • Track supply inventories and notify management when supplies need to be ordered.

    • Complete items listed on the provider's patient "checkout sheet" to ensure follow-up tasks are addressed.

    • Assist with documentation retrieval (training provided).

  • Support and Reception Duties:

    • Cover the reception desk as needed, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing incoming faxes.

    • Fax medical records requests and other necessary documentation.

    • Enter incoming faxes into patient charts using the EMR system (Tebra).

    • Collect license plate information for patient parking validation.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant

  • 1+ years of experience in an outpatient office setting.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong proficiency with computers and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Optimistic and positive attitude with a commitment to efficiency and quality patient care.

  • CPR/BLS certification.
