Position: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Controller

Location: Suburban, Dayton, TN

Department: Accounting

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized team player for the position of Staff Accountant. This role will be responsible for compiling daily reports, assisting in the month-end closing process, helping ensure we adhere to our corporate policies & SOX requirements, and assisting with other accounting functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare various journal entries, monthly or as needed.
  • Compile and manage daily reports.
  • Reconciliation of assigned Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Perform all duties for SOX compliance.
  • Filing sales tax reporting
  • Development and reporting of KPI’s for departments.
  • Assist in identifying and developing cost saving initiatives.
  • Employee Expense Reimbursement processing
  • Perform as Payroll Backup
  • Crosstrain and assist in Inventory auditing.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferred but not required, manufacturing background a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with accounting software (Infor a plus) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sales Tax and 1099 knowledge
  • Understanding of SOX compliance requirements
  • Corporate Audit experience

Position type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is an on-site full-time position on a 4-10 hour work schedule (Mon-Thurs). Due to the nature and demands of this role, flexibility is required to work outside of normal work schedule.
