CONTROLLER
This position is responsible for managing the accounting departments for three (3) separate locations. Our client is a 161-bed licensed nursing home in Norwood, a 123-bed licensed nursing home in Waltham and a 123 unit assisted living facility in Braintree. The main office is in Norwood, MA.
This is a private, family-owned business having owned and operated these three facilities for over 30 plus years.
The Controller will manage the day-to-day general ledger account activities and the accounting team and reports directly to ownership.
Job Specific Duties:
- Manages Accounting Team Members and responsible for developing the teams capabilities to meet both current and future needs of the accounting operation and the enterprise
- Responsible for providing functional support to ensure that official accounting records are properly maintained in accordance with internal policies, external laws and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles
- Reconciles and posts entries for investment portfolio funds
- Implements and maintains accounting policies and procedures
- Prepares and posts management fees, eliminating, and allocation entries
- Runs period-end general ledger closing procedures
- Reviews variance analysis and reconciliations performed by the team on a monthly basis and consults with the Manager about discrepancies
- Ensures the accuracy of financial records
- Coordinates financial audits and year-end audit work papers with the Director
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and in-house standards and best practices
- Meets department uniform, appearance and grooming requirements
- Complies with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment.

Education and Experience
· Experience in Skilled nursing facilities is HIGHLY preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting and managerial experience is required.
- Experience in public accounting is preferred.
- Knowledge of full accounting cycle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong business analytical skill
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and attention to details & deadlines
- Knowledge of Federal, State and third party insurance billing and reimbursements is preferred
- Knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, taxes and banking is required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
- Strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling experience is necessary.
