Fab Shop Foreman

Position Summary: Work includes coordination, installation, and repair of sanitary, storm, domestic water, fuel oil, and natural gas fixtures and equipment for plumbing systems and heating and cooling systems for heating work. Individuals should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other people on the project, including our subcontractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner. Focus on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for onsite activity regarding manpower, materials, and scheduling within a specific area or work location on project.
- Ensure safety is the number one priority on the project.
- Assist with the direction of coordination issues.
- Attend coordination meetings that involve TP Mechanical Contractors’ scope of work as needed or directed by Superintendent.
- Minimize downtime by scheduling all work to be performed by employees. Lay out all work for crew. Have a contingency plan to ensure the crew is always productive.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and material are on-site when needed and returned when not needed.
- Walk the job daily with the Superintendent to inspect progress, quality, and safety.
- Manage personnel, subcontractors, and vendors appropriately, building teamwork and morale by making fair and honest decision making.
- Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
o Minimum 3 years commercial experience in field plumbing or heating operations.
o Prior shop experience a plus.
o Stable work history.
Job Skills:
o Ability to read blueprints.
o Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
o Ability to fabricate offsets.
o Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
o Able to do basic take-offs.
o Able to install equipment.
o Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
o Good communication skills.
o Good math skills.
Education:
o High School or GED Equivalent.
o Journeyman License preferred.
o Trade School a plus.
o Additional trade licenses and certifications acquired and maintained.
Physical Requirements:
o Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
o Able to work long hours on feet.
o Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
o Able to perform shift work.
o Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60lbs.
o Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
o Must not be afraid of heights.
Special Requirements:
o Valid Driver’s License.
o Must provide own basic hand tools.
o Able to operate heavy machinery.
o CPR certification.
o OSHA 10 certified.
