Job Summary:

First Presbyterian is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Youth Director to lead and nurture our youth ministry. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young people, a deep faith, and the ability to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all youth. This role involves planning and leading programs, activities, and events that encourage spiritual growth, community involvement, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Youth Ministry Leadership:
    • Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly youth group meetings.
    • Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with Presbyterian beliefs and values.
    • Organize and oversee special events, retreats, and mission trips.
  • Relationship Building:
    • Foster strong relationships with youth, parents, and church members.
    • Provide mentorship and spiritual guidance to youth.
    • Encourage youth participation in church services and activities.
    • Attend Sunday worship services.
  • Communication:
    • Maintain regular communication with youth and their families through newsletters, social media, and other platforms.
    • Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to support the overall mission of the church.
    • Report regularly to the Session and Pastor on youth ministry activities and progress.
  • Administration:
    • Manage the youth ministry budget and ensure proper stewardship of resources.
    • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to assist with youth activities.
    • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all youth activities, with particular attention to the legal risks when dealing with children.

Qualifications:

  • Strong personal faith and alignment with Presbyterian values and beliefs.
  • Previous experience working with youth in a church or similar setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and parents.
  • Organizational skills to plan and execute programs and events.

· Knowledge of social media and digital communication tools.

  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or coursework in youth ministry, theology, education, or a related field.
  • Experience in planning and leading retreats, mission trips, and other large events.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible schedule, with availability for evenings and weekends as required.
  • Combination of office work, off-site activities, and events.
  • Salary and benefits negotiable.
