Role:

Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, is responsible for developing employees with the skills the organization needs to achieve its goals. The individual will plan, design, and implement Talent Development programs for all levels within the organization. In addition, the Director of Talent Development will possess up-to-date knowledge of best practices in organizational learning for adult learners and strong knowledge of business practices alongside leadership ability. All duties will be performed in accordance with The Apple Way principles, of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It and, adherence to credit union policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Develops, administers, schedules, and tracks all staff training programs. Ensures member-facing staff members receive sufficient introductory training to perform their roles to credit union expectations. Facilitates partnership with member-facing management staff to ensure learning transfer and department cooperation. Writes and coordinates training courses, tests, exercises, skill practices, handouts, and other materials. Recommends, schedules, and tracks internal and external training and education of staff and supervisors. Monitors and updates Learning Management System and generates related reports as required.


  • Recruits, supervises, trains, coaches, assigns work to, evaluates, and provides performance feedback to TD staff. Provides direction to TD staff to ensure department goals and objectives are met and work is assigned to staff members based on organizational needs and priorities.


  • Regularly assesses credit union’s training needs with input from CPO, AVP of Talent Development, AppleFCUniversity Learning Council, credit union management, and other appropriate sources. Along with the AVP of Talent Development develops an annual training plan that effectively meets those needs. Works with the AVP of Talent Development to develop career development plans and paths to support individual professional development and organizational succession planning. Assists department managers with employee development. Oversees the Mentor and Management Training Programs and facilitates courses, as needed.


  • Creates and implements training programs to support new technology, organization and department projects, products, processes, or regulatory requirements. This includes but is not limited to setting instructional objectives, course content development, developing training manuals and outlines, testing, attendance, maintaining certification status for staff and ongoing certification.


  • Creates training evaluation systems tailored to individual training programs that effectively measure what training participants learned. Modifies programs as needed. Tabulates results of evaluations and provides feedback to TD Specialists and subject matter expert trainers when appropriate.


  • Develops and delivers sales and service training in support of credit union goals and member service standards. When necessary, acts as a classroom trainer and/or provides back-up to TD Team.


  • Attends external professional development activities for training and organization development specialists to maintain awareness of current and state-of-the-art training and TD practices.


  • Maintains credit union training calendar. Schedules outside vendors and professional trainers to conduct credit union training.


  • Performs other duties as assigned by the AVP of Talent Development.


Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

Minimum five years of relevant organizational development and/or technical training experience with emphasis on developing and delivering training programs. Previous supervisory experience.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in HR Development, Organization Development, Communications, Teaching, Business Administration or related field. Train the Trainer or Master Trainer Certification or equivalent certifications.

Interpersonal Skills

Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.

Other Skills

Ability to facilitate adult learning through learner-based training techniques. . Experience in curriculum creation and design. Ability to manage multiple projects/ priorities. Ability to work on multiple technological platforms.
