Job Scope:

The Materials Handler monitors and maintains inventory levels, as well as provides logistical support for all inbound and outbound operations while adhering to company guidelines and standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Major duty satisfactorily. · Monitors and maintains inventory levels.

· Processes and tracks purchase orders and changes.

· Performs cycle counts and records results.

· Compiles inventory information such as consumption rate, characteristics, value, and stock on hand to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.

· Input data and generate audit reports.

· Provide clerical support for inbound and outbound logistical operations. Coordinates inventory management, warehousing, and transportation activities.

· Optimize inventory levels and minimize costs.

· Receiving.

 

Additional Duties:

· Comply with UTAK’s policies, procedures, and quality standards as well as safety and environmental regulations.

  • Work overtime as necessary to accomplish tasks and goals.
  • Attend weekly department meetings and training sessions.
  • Promote safety and participate in safety activities:

o Assist in the investigation of all accidents or incidents in work area.

o Implement safety-related improvements as identified by employees, team leaders, safety professionals and others.

· May perform special projects and other duties as assigned or requested.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following education, experience, knowledge, competencies and skills:

 

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge:

  • High school diploma.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO and lab accreditation preferred.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Self-starter.

 

 

Skills:

· Equipment Use: Ladders, refrigerators, freezers, step stools, multipurpose printers, personal computers, and laboratory equipment.

· Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. ERP system use preferred.

· Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, standard operating procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

· Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

· Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or thinking to a wide range of problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

· Additional Knowledge or Skills: Knowledge of latest developments in technology and processes related to laboratory testing and manufacturing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:

 

Environmental Conditions:

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate/quiet, but can be exceedingly loud.

  • Work is generally performed in an indoor setting, usually within the laboratory.

· The laboratory is an unpredictable environment. It can occasionally offer difficult conditions.

· Works with and around human matrices and illicit substances.

· Work requires frequent use of a computer.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to heat/cold.

 

Physical Requirements :

  • Regularly works onsite.
  • Regularly required to sit in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and move within the building.
  • Regularly uses hands and fingers to access, input and retrieve data using a computer terminal, operate equipment, and perform tasks.
  • Frequently reaches with hands and arms, pushes and pulls objects.
  • Occasionally climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls.
  • Frequently communicates verbally and in written form.
  • Frequently required to hear.
  • Regularly uses all types of vision, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to complete daily tasks.

· Required to handle, lift, and move items of varying weights, sometimes as heavy as 50 lbs.

· Constantly required to communicate verbally and in written form.
